What is Furoshiki?

Furoshiki is a traditional Japanese square cloth used for wrapping and carrying items. Historically, it dates back centuries to when it was used to carry clothes in public baths (hence its name, which literally means "bath cloth"). Today, furoshiki is recognized as an eco-friendly alternative to disposable bags and packaging.

Furoshiki can replace traditional wrapping paper. By folding and tying the fabric around a present, you are not only giving a gift, but also a reusable piece of fabric.

Furoshiki is more than just a piece of fabric; it is a symbol of sustainability and innovation. By incorporating furoshiki into your daily life, you are helping to reduce waste and adopt a more environmentally friendly lifestyle.

How do I make them with my coupons?

Furoshiki generally come in 3 sizes: S, M and L.

The dimensions are as follows:

  • S: 30 cm x 30 cm
  • M: 50 cm x 50 cm
  • L: 70 cm x 70 cm

If, like us, you want to optimize the footage, you can simply cut the squares to your dimensions.

For our 3 x 1m lots -> you can cut a maximum of 3 size L + 6 size M + 15 size S (calculation without border finishes, i.e. raw edge), i.e. 24 gift wraps!

If you want a cleaner finish, we recommend either overlocking all the edges (this will make your coupon more durable) or making a small hem by adding 1 cm to your dimension to give you a return of 0.5+0.5.
