The break with... Guillemette Workshop

A swimsuit collab later, we chatted with the bubbly Guillemette, to find out more about her Atelier! A magical apricot juice for her and a vine peach juice for us, we'll let you discover her answers 🤗

-Can you quickly introduce yourself in a tweet (less than 280 characters) emoticons accepted:

I am Guillemette, I am 29 years old, I am from Rouen and I fell into sewing not like Obelix when I was little but just after my baccalaureate.

In love with lingerie, I decided to work in this field before creating my own brand of patterns.

-Guillemette’s workshop, what is it?

L'Atelier de Guillemette is a brand of sewing patterns exclusively for lingerie and swimwear.

-What does sewing represent for you?

For me, sewing is a way to clear my head, create with my hands and feel proud.

-Tell us about your worst sewing experience:

My worst experience was on a fully lined cape for which I had bought a fortune of fabric. When cutting my pieces, not having enough room by folding the fabric, I forgot to turn two of them, so I had right sides instead of two left and two right. I had no more material to recut.

-Your favorite boss?

From my own brand it's without hesitation Gaspard, I almost only wear him, that's why I created it quite quickly. Otherwise from another brand the Andria dress by Anne Kerdiles, a real marvel!

-A fabric that doesn't deserve to exist?

Polyester is slippery and not pleasant.

-What is your favorite music for sewing?

The entire Disco repertoire!

-If you had the superpower to skip one annoying step in sewing, which one would it be?

The cut! What a horrible step, it's long and painful.

-How do you see yourself in 27 years?

I see myself traveling all over the world, without ties.

-If you were at the head of Atelier 27, what project would you like to launch?

I would develop a magical swimsuit fabric that changes color when it comes into contact with water.

-You are given an elephant, you can neither sell it nor get rid of it, what do you do with it?

I'm moving in with my grandmother so she can enjoy it, it's her favorite animal.

-For you, what is the future of fashion?

More eco-responsibility, natural and environmentally friendly materials. Synthetics are no longer a dream in my opinion.

I really like the one from Make My Lemonade which really takes care to be authentic, aesthetic and close to its community.
