Sewing Pattern - Jeanne Dress - Atelier Bernie
What we love: The beautiful finishes thanks to French seams and the front cuts that structure the silhouette and slim the waist.
The Jeanne dress is named after the first French female lawyer to plead, Jeanne Chauvin. It also pays tribute to Countess Du Barry, King Louis XV's last love, known for her beauty, her white dresses, and her taste for the arts.
This model is suitable for mid-season as well as full summer, with a cottage core and romantic spirit. It stands out with its wide round neckline that highlights the décolletage. It is close-fitting up to the waist, marked by an adjustable belt, and flares out into a very gathered short or long skirt. It can be sewn with a tie-back belt.
Its puffed sleeves and the bottom of the skirt are adorned with large pintucks, which are optional but make the model truly original. It can also be sewn sleeveless.
Regarding finishes, it closes with an invisible zip at the back and its bodice is fully lined. You will also learn how to create enclosed armholes so that no seams are visible. The rest of the seams are French seams, except for the center back seam. You can finish the latter with a zigzag stitch on your sewing machine or with an overlocker.
