DIY jewelry tutorial - Dupe / Hack Charlotte necklace in Sezane style
Hello hello,
A first DIY jewelry appointment?! Well yesssss :-) It was when I discovered by chance on the Sezanettes couture Facebook group that I strongly recommend to you a photo that I said to myself "but it's sooo beautiful, I want the same!!"
So I offer you this little step-by-step tutorial to make this little marvel with your little fingers <3
Shopping list (found at Perles&Co):
- For the chain: Fancy chain with curb chain and 6 mm bars - Satin gold x50cm (be careful, I would recommend a shiny gold so that it goes better with the clasp)
- Small nails to add the pearls: Ball head nail 26X0.5 mm gilded with fine gold x50
- Pearls: Freshwater pearls Flattened round 6x4 mm White x20
- The clasp: 15 mm gold-plated buoy clasp x1
- Small rings to fix the clasp and/or the tassels: Open rings 4x0.7 mm in Gold filled x10 (also pay attention to the size, it is possible to take thinner ones depending on the desired result)
Tools to have: Flat pliers, round pliers (you will find a kit of 3 pliers like this one for example Kit of 3 pliers in a Perles & Co Blue carrying pouch x1)
So you have everything? Let's go!!
1/ Cut the chain using the cutting pliers to the desired length (I chose 42cm)
2/ Attach the clasp using 2 small gold rings at each end of the necklace (my rings being too big I had to attach it between 2 curb links but I recommend for more aesthetics thinner rings to attach to the links rings directly)
3/ Locate the center of the chain where we will attach the first “tassel”
4/ Prepare the first tassel with a pearl by tapering a pearl on a nail, then form a loop with the right side by wrapping it around round-tipped pliers.
Now you have 2 solutions:
- Either directly insert the tassel in the desired location and fix it by wrapping the nail around the chain (which is what I did)
- Or (probably more aesthetic) go around with the end of the nail below the loop to create a pendant. Then fix the tassel using an open ring.
5/ Attach the tassels at regular intervals (I placed 7 in total), spaced by 7 small curb links, but this is really according to the designer's wishes!
6/ Once the 7 tassels are attached, tadammmm, you are the happy owner of a Charlotte hack Sezane necklace ;-)
I hope this is clear, this is my first jewelry tutorial, I count on your understanding and do not hesitate to tell me in the comments if I need more details so that I can add them for everyone :-)
But frankly delighted with the final result!!
The beads can be replaced with colored beads of course.
I wish you a very beautiful creation and do not hesitate to share your necklace on the Facebook group, it is always a pleasure to discover the different versions!
